Privacy

Information we collect

When you create an account, The Odds Theory stores your verified email address, a unique identity-provider account ID, optional display name, account and plan status, terms and age-confirmation timestamps, and recent sign-in timestamps. If you continue with Discord, we also store your Discord user ID, display name, community-join state, and the paid-role state needed to keep website and community access aligned. We do not store your Discord password or OAuth access token.

When you join the email list, we also store the email address and signup source you submit, the time of signup, your IP address, and browser user-agent information.

Authentication and Discord community

Discord provides the identity used to create your account and join The Odds Theory community server. Continuing with Discord authorizes The Odds Theory to identify your Discord account, read the verified email Discord supplies, and add that account to The Odds Theory server. Discord may process identity, device, security, and login information under its own privacy terms.

The Odds Theory uses a restricted bot to add or remove the Theory Pro role as your entitlement changes. Ending a paid entitlement removes only the Pro role; it does not automatically remove you from the free community.

Payments and subscriptions

Stripe processes checkout and subscription payments. The Odds Theory stores Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, subscription status, entitlement dates, and limited operational records needed to grant or revoke access. The Odds Theory does not receive or store your full payment-card number.

Sessions and security

A secure signed cookie keeps you signed in and protects the sign-in flow. It contains a local account reference and temporary security and consent state, such as CSRF protection, your approved return path, OAuth state, and PKCE verification data. It never contains your password or a Discord OAuth access or refresh token. Temporary sign-in data is cleared or expires. We also use request and device information to prevent abuse, protect accounts, and investigate operational failures.

Website analytics

The site may use Plausible Analytics or Google Analytics when configured. These services can collect device, browser, referral, and usage information. We do not sell personal information.

How information is used

  • Create and administer your account, subscription, product access, and Discord role.
  • Record acceptance of the current terms and 21+ requirement.
  • Deliver requested product updates and daily-card communications.
  • Operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the platform.
  • Measure product usage and comply with applicable legal obligations.

Service providers

We use service providers including Railway for hosting, Discord for identity and community access, Stripe for payments, and providers for reliability monitoring and analytics when enabled. They receive only the information needed to perform those services and process it under their own terms.

Your choices

You may sign out at any time, leave the Discord server through Discord, manage or cancel an eligible subscription through the account tools made available to you, and request account or marketing-list removal through the contact method used in The Odds Theory communications. You may unsubscribe from marketing by using an unsubscribe link when supplied or by replying “unsubscribe.” Leaving Discord does not by itself cancel a paid subscription.

Data retention and security

Information is retained only as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain required records, resolve disputes, and protect the platform. Reasonable safeguards are used, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security.
